Information

Pregnancy Monitoring  Why is it Important?

Pregnancy monitoring is a healthcare service aimed at ensuring the well-being of both the mother and the baby by regularly evaluating the mother's health status, the baby's development, and potential risks. Thanks to these follow-ups, problems that can be detected early are addressed in a timely manner, ensuring a safe pregnancy. In addition, tests, screenings, and imaging methods performed throughout pregnancy enable the early diagnosis of congenital anomalies.

Who Should Undergo Pregnancy Monitoring?

Each pregnancy is unique, and all pregnant women should be monitored regularly. However, pregnancy monitoring becomes even more critical in the following cases:

Image Description
In First Pregnancies:

For expectant mothers with no previous pregnancy experience, there are more physiological and psychological unknowns; therefore, closer monitoring helps alleviate potential concerns and ensures a safer progression of the process.

Image Description
In Pregnancies Over the Age of 35:

In advanced maternal age pregnancies, the risks of genetic disorders, gestational diabetes, and hypertension are higher, therefore, the frequency and level of monitoring should be increased.

For Those with a History of Miscarriage or Preterm Birth:

Since previous pregnancies with miscarriage, preterm birth, or pregnancy loss carry a risk of recurrence, close monitoring and preventive approaches are of great importance.

In Twin or Multiple Pregnancies:

Due to risks such as preterm birth, placental issues, and developmental differences, more frequent and detailed ultrasound examinations are required in multiple pregnancies.

In Expectant Mothers with Chronic Conditions like Diabetes or Hypertension:

Pre-existing systemic diseases can affect the health of both the mother and the baby; therefore, multidisciplinary monitoring and customized pregnancy management are necessary.

How Do We Do It?

Methods Used in Pregnancy Monitoring

2D, 3D, and 4D Ultrasonography:

Allows monitoring of the baby's development in two dimensions (2D), detailed anatomical imaging in three dimensions (3D), and real-time movements in four dimensions (4D).

Doppler Assessments:

Measures the blood flow of the baby and placenta, providing information about fetal well-being.

NST (Non-Stress Test):

Assesses the synchronization between the baby's heartbeat and movements to evaluate the prenatal stress level.

Screening Tests (First, Second, Triple, and Quadruple Tests):

Blood tests conducted at specific weeks of pregnancy to detect congenital anomalies and genetic risks.

Blood and Urine Tests:

Regularly performed to monitor the mother's health conditions such as infections, anemia, and gestational diabetes.

Fetal Biometry and Weight Estimation:

Monitors the baby's development through measurements such as head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length, and estimates the baby's approximate weight.
